The sky is not falling. It’s right up there where it’s always been. Yet, it would seem the world is crumbling beneath it—at least spiritually speaking.

All around us society is undermining and ridiculing Catholic values. Yet, Jesus told us, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful” (John 14:27).

Recognize the weight of the world is not on your shoulders. God has not given you the world to fix. He has given you your life to live moment by moment in union with him.

Find a good spiritual director to help guide you to deeper union with God and to avoid life’s pitfalls. Dan Burke’s new book, Navigating the Interior Life, Spiritual Direction And the Journey to God, explains what spiritual direction is and how to find a good director.

You are Not Alone. We are the Church Militant, those still on earth fighting the good fight. We have each other. Find like-minded souls seeking to put God first in their lives. Join a prayer group. You’ll make new friends, pray more, and find comfort.

The Church Triumphant, our brothers and sisters in heaven, are interceding for us. Many of them were martyred for their courageous practice of the faith. Talk to them and pray for their intercession.

St. Michael continues to fight for God, defending the Church and goes before us in this spiritual battle. Pray the St. Michael Prayer.

Our Blessed Mother is the woman who will crush the head of Satan and she is our mother, interceding for us to her beloved son Jesus Christ. Pray the rosary daily. St. Padre Pio called it “the weapon.”

Use the Church’s other weapons. The Mass is a refuge and strength as is Eucharistic adoration, prayer, Scripture, and fasting. All the power in heaven is within your reach.

Utilize the New Media. Find Catholic Facebook and Twitter pages and Internet Groups. Listen to Catholic radio, Watch EWTN and Catholic TV. Read good books.

Remember, Jesus is Our King No Matter who is President. Place yourself under the sovereignty of the King of all nations. An old devotion that is growing in popularity is the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus over our family. When we make a covenant to live under His Kingship, we need not fear for we have the protection of the King of all Nations.

Pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, wonder and awe, right judgment, knowledge, courage, and reverence. “…but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

Realize that we do not need to solve anything. Our task is to simply follow the leaders God has put in place in his Church with the Pope at the head and holy bishops and priests.
