Five Ways to Keep Your House Cool Without A/C
Tend to Chores When It’s Cooler
Laundry, cooking, and cleaning – it makes it unbearable if you have to do them while it is hot. Wait until it has cooled down some, preferably in the evening. Find smarter ways to preserve the coolness of your house.
Instead of using the dryer, let the sun help out and hang them on a clothesline outside. Use the sink instead of the dishwasher to scrub those dishes. Consider some recipes that can keep you and your family cool (cold soups, fruit salad, etc.) without using the stove or oven. Or BBQ outside; in the evening, of course.
Also be sure to shut down appliances that you aren’t using, or finished using. Some of the appliances that lie around your house generate heat, inadvertently warming up your house. That includes electronics.
