How to Survive an Impossible Mixed-Faith Marriage
Robbing the cradle
Believe that God challenges our beliefs to make them stronger. I was a “Church-on-Sunday, prayers-at-bedtime” Catholic until I met Richard. Having been brought up in the faith, I had no reason to think much about it. When Richard, who was very spiritual but not particularly religious, started asking me questions, I had to reflect on what it was that I actually professed. Then, I had to defend it to him. He had to reconcile what I told him with what he believed. Together we developed a shared faith, though we still argue vigorously about some aspects of it.
