Jodi Chapman - Relax

You’ll always be busy.

You’ll always have too much to do.

You’ll always have the kids to pick up or the groceries to get or the errands to run.

You’ll always have the house to clean or the dinner to cook or the work to finish.

You’ll always, always, always have a full life.

Always.

And yet…

In the midst of all of this busyness – in the midst of all of this “how is it ever all going to get done” chaos that has become your life, your soul still finds a way to get through. Your soul reaches out to you and whispers that it’s time to slow down. Your soul asks you to make space to reflect.

And yet…

You keep going. You keep doing. You keep pushing.

Because you feel you have to.

Because you feel you must.

Because you feel that if you don’t, it won’t get done and life as you know it will fall apart and who knows what will happen because you can’t possibly slow down long enough to find out.

And yet…

Your soul is persistent, and this wise voice within continues to ask that you listen to it, that you find balance, that you embrace stillness.

And you are so tired and overwhelmed and frazzled that you figure that maybe it wouldn’t hurt to listen to this voice. And maybe you could listen to the whispers and slow down a little bit and see how you feel.

And so…

You give it a try. You meditate. You sit in silence. You breathe.

You make space for reflection.

And you slowly feel yourself coming back.

You slowly feel your toes and your legs and your belly and your arms and your face.

You slowly feel alive again.

And so…

You thank your soul for loving you enough to continue whispering.

And you thank yourself for loving you enough to listen.

You made space to reflect.

You made time for yourself.

You slowed down, got centered, and your world expanded in such beautiful ways.

And that’s pretty wonderful.

And what’s great about this cycle is that you can always come back to stillness. You can always come back to quiet. So if you try it out for a little while, and you get caught up in the busyness again, you can always make space for reflection again.

If you’re feeling frazzled and overwhelmed right now in this moment, you can take a couple of minutes to close your eyes and take a few deep breaths in silence. You can do this. You can give yourself this time and this space. You can. And it doesn’t take much – you don’t need a lot. Just a bit of space and a bit of quiet. That’s all. And that’s definitely doable for all of us, no matter how busy we are.

Hugs,

Jodi
