We often ask for more abundance when we’re trying to manifest more money. When I was writing Tapping into Wealth: How Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Can Help You Clear the Path to Making More Money,  with Margaret M. Lynch, the leading expert for finding and clearing blocks to getting more money, I became enlightened about the difference between desiring money and desiring abundance.

Abundance is a very generalized concept that often relates to money when you have a spiritual perspective. But, abundance doesn’t necessarily mean money—actual cold hard cash! Since abundance is just a concept, wanting it doesn’t create the kind of vibration needed to manifest. And the Law of Attraction may not recognize that you want more money.

We’re taught to include all the riches we have—family and friends, love, good health, a nice home, joy, etc.—under the umbrella of abundance. It sounds good, and can make you feel better for the moment about not having more money. There’s nothing wrong with seeking that kind of abundance. But thinking in those terms can distract you from telling the Universe you want more money. Sometimes that mindset can make you feel guilty about wanting lots more cold cash and/or get you off the track for creating it. Seeking to increase abundance can seem like a more spiritual mindset, while focusing on just getting more money can seem shallow.  Desiring more money out loud can almost seem as if you don’t appreciate all the blessings of your abundance.

Asking for money can seem very unspiritual or greedy. Some of us have blocks that keep us from attracting money. You may have been given a negative picture of what happens if your income gets a lot bigger. Asking for more money can trigger old negative messages, fear of changing if you get more money, fear of not fitting in with your family. If you can, do EFT (Tapping)  to clear your blocks.

Remember, you can’t pay bills with abundance! Nor can you get a better lifestyle if you can’t pay for it.
If you want a lot more money, you need to focus directly on increasing your income. Of course you can also appreciate other kinds of abundance, as long as you focus on money when that’s what you want. It’s important to be clear about what you tell the Universe so the Law of Attraction knows exactly what you want.

If you want more money, specifically ask for it. You can build a strong vibration to greatly increase your wealth by both feeling gratitude about all your blessings and focusing on creating much more abundance in dollars and cents. Enjoy any non-money abundance that comes to you but keep more money on your mind. Abundance comprises all your blessings. Separate it from the money you want and focus on the good feelings you’ll have when you the Law of Attraction works in your favor. Save abundance for when you’re counting your blessings.
