A Day That Will Live in Infamy
For two decades, Ho made headway in the northern half of Vietnam, but then World War II broke out. After destroying the American fleet at Pearl Harbor, Japanese forces swept over the Philippines, western China, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia , much of the Pacific – and southeast Asia. Japan’s brutal rule over Vietnam is blamed for terrible atrocities, including the famine of 1945, in which two million Vietnamese starved to death.
