Cassius Clay Jr. was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and would go on to worldwide fame due to his dominant boxing ability. Not only an intimidating boxer, Ali stood up to both racism and the Vietnam war as a part of his distinguished career. Raised as a Baptist, he converted to the Nation of Islam in the '60s, moving to Suni Islam in the '70s. He has since embraced the more spiritual version of Islam in Sufi-ism, but made prayer a priority as long as his Parkinson's allowed it.
