David Binn was a letterwinner in football, basketball and golf in high school. After graduating from San Mateo High School, he attended the University of California, Berkeley. There he played as a linebacker and a long snapper. He earned a bachelor's degree in Ecology and Interdisciplinary Studies and went on to join the NFL. There, he played as a long snapper for the Sand Diego Chargers. He played for 18 seasons and had a record 179 consecutive played games before suffering a hamstring injury in 2010.
