Harrison Butker is a NFL placekicker who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. He played college football at Georgia Tech before being drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Recognized as one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history (minimum 100 attempts), Butker led the league in scoring in 2019 and has contributed to three Super Bowl victories with the Chiefs.

Raised in Decatur, Georgia, Butker attended Westminster Schools in Atlanta, where he showcased his athletic versatility. He was a three-sport athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and soccer. Notably, he contributed to three consecutive state championships in soccer, highlighting his early prowess in sports.

Butker's athletic journey led him to Georgia Tech, where he played as the starting placekicker for the Yellow Jackets from 2013 to 2016. Throughout his collegiate career, he became Georgia Tech's all-time leading scorer, amassing 337 points and successfully converting 208 point-after-touchdown (PAT) attempts. His field goal percentage stood at an impressive 71.7%, and he was particularly effective from long range, making all eight of his attempts from beyond 40 yards in his senior year.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers selected Butker in the seventh round as the 233rd overall pick. Although he began his professional journey with the Panthers, it was with the Kansas City Chiefs that Butker truly made his mark. Joining the Chiefs in 2017, he quickly established himself as a reliable scorer. By the end of the 2024 season, Butker had accumulated 900 points, ranking third in franchise history. He also set a Super Bowl record with a 57-yard field goal in Super Bowl LVIII.

Off the field, Butker's personal life reflects his deep-rooted Christian values. He married his high school sweetheart, Isabelle, in 2018. The couple's relationship began in middle school, blossoming over the years into a committed partnership. Together, they have three children. Isabelle, a college graduate and former student-athlete, converted to Catholicism before their marriage, aligning with Butker's devout faith.

Harrison Butker's Religious Beliefs

A devout Traditionalist Catholic, Butker's faith plays a central role in his life. He has been vocal about his beliefs, often integrating them into his public persona. He often speaks about the importance of integrating faith into daily life, viewing his athletic platform as an opportunity to witness for Christ.

In a notable 2024 commencement address at Benedictine College, Butker emphasized traditional Catholic values, urging graduates to prioritize family and faith. He also expressed concerns about modern societal trends, including the celebration of Pride Month and the role of women in the workforce. These remarks sparked both support and criticism, highlighting the polarizing nature of his views.

Butker's advocacy extends to various social issues. He has publicly supported anti-abortion initiatives, including the 2022 Kansas Value Them Both Amendment, which sought to affirm that the state constitution does not guarantee the right to abortion. In 2023, during the Chiefs' Super Bowl LVII victory celebration at the White House, he wore an anti-abortion tie, signaling his protest against pro-choice policies.
