The native Canadian was raised Mormon by his parents. He got his big break as a mousetekerr on Disney's "Mickey Mouse Club" alongside future stars like Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. He went a different direction than his pop music co-stars and launched a successful Hollywood career that included his iconic role as Noah in The Notebook. In 2006 he told Beliefnet, “[Being Mormon] socialized me at a young age. You have to pray in public, shake a lot of hands, talk in public, sing in church, stuff like that.
