Darvin Ham is a former NBA player and current head-coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Ham was active from 1996 to 2005 with the Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons and the Indiana Pacers. Darvin has overcome many obstacles in his life to get where he is today including being shot in the jaw at just 14 years old. Darvin and his brother went out for pizza one night and found themselves in the middle of crossfire. Ham is extremely lucky to be alive today. In high school it wasn't basketball that captured Ham's attention, it was football. As the promising athlete began to grow he knew he needed to make a switch in sports. Ham only played one year of basketball before landing a full scholarship to Texas Tech in 1993.
