Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed to the Supreme Court on February 25th making history as the first black woman to serve on the court by a vote of 53-47.Jackson credits her passion for law to her childhood where she spent many nights sitting at the dinner table with her father while he was in law school studying. Her father became the chief attorney for the Miami-Dade County School Board while her mother served as principle for the New World School of Arts. Jackson excelled in high school where she was a debate and speech star and was elected student body president. Jackson was told in high school to not set her sights so high when she expressed her desire to attend Harvard. She later graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University, and cum laude from Harvard Law School. She met her husband in 1996 while at Harvard, her husband is now a surgeon at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and the couple have two children together.
