Billie Jean King is a former number-one tennis legend, winning 39 major titles: 12 in singles, 16 in women’s doubles and 11 in mixed doubles. She founded the Women’s Tennis Association and the Women’s Sports Foundation. In 1973, at 29 years old, she beat Bobby Riggs in the “Battle of the Sexes” tennis match. King is regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, earning an induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1987. She’s also won several other accolades throughout her career.
