Nicole Evangeline Lilly was born in Alberta and raised in British Columbia. She worked a number of odd jobs in order to pay for her college tuition including waitressing, working as a flight attendant for Royal Airlines and doing "oil changes and grease jobs on big rig trucks." She majored in International Relations but was discovered by a Ford Modeling Agent while walking in Kelowna. She ended up with several roles in commercials before she was encouraged by a friend to audition for "Lost." This ended up being her big break.
