George Lucas is the creator of movies that have defined generations.
Star Wars and
Indiana Jones each have their own unique story to tell, but both contain very interesting references to religion. From "the force" to Jones' excavation of the Ark of the Covenant, it is clear that Lucas has more than a passing interest in religion. A California native, he grew up in the
Methodist church. He became interested in comparative mythologies prior to making Star Wars, and eventually found a distinct interest in Eastern religions. Lucas now considers himself a "Buddhist Methodist," identifying strongly with both his current beliefs and the beliefs of his childhood.
