Manny Pacquiao is a Filipino professional boxer turned politician. With the stage name “PacMan,” Pacquiao is recognized as one of the best professional boxers of all time with his world boxing titles in eight various divisions. In 2016, he was elected as senator of the Philippines. Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao was born in Kibawe, Philippines on Dec. 17, 1978. His parents, Dionesia Dapidran-Pacquiao and Rosalio Pacquiao, raised him as Cahtolic in the Bukidnon province of Mindanao, Philippines. At age 16, Pacquiao started boxing professionally. In 1998 following his win over Thailand's Chatchai Sasakul for the WBC flyweight championship, Pacquiao’s promising boxing career took off.
During the peak of his career, his drinking, womanizing, and gambling addictions peaked as well. Fortunately, years later, he gave up his unhealthy lifestyle to become a born-again Christian. After ending his bad habits and focusing on God, he decided to pursue a career in politics. Pacquiao was elected two times to the Philippines’ House of Representatives and went on to win a Senate seat in 2016. Today, he is married to Jinkee Pacquiao, and they have five children together. The former boxer also held many other careers, such as preacher, professional basketball coach and player, recording artist, and businessman. He is currently a candidate for the Philippine presidential elections in May 2022. He gives God all the glory for his inspiring journey. The politician stated that Jesus pulled him through his struggles both in and outside of the ring.
