Who is Margot Robbie?

Margot Robbie is an award-winning Australian actress. She is best known for her starring roles in “I, Tonya,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” and “Suicide Squad”.

Similar to other Australian actresses such as Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett, Margot made a huge splash in the film industry. Her debut starring role was in in Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” at age 23. Following its successful premiere, she landed big parts in “The Big Short” and “Suicide Squad”. In 2017, she scored her most controversial roles as figure skater Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya,” and her part as the late actress Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino's “Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood”. She starred alongside fellow Australian Nicole Kidman in the movie “Bombshell” for which she earned an Oscar for best supporting role.

Background and religious affiliation

Robbie was born on July 2, 1990 in Dalby, Queensland, Australia. Most of her childhood was spent in Gold Coast, which is around 500 miles north of Sydney. After her parents divorced, Robbie and her three siblings were raised by their mother. Her mother was a physiotherapist and her dad was a farmer.

In a Vanity Fair interview she expressed that as a child, she thought she was a magician. In high school, she gained a passion for drama. Her peaked interest in acting guided her to Melbourne for a children’s’ show, “The Elephant Princess”, which also starred the famous Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.

Although she doesn’t speak about it publicly, Robbie is a Christian. She was raised by her Christian parents and has been seen going to church in Gold Coast, Aus. with her granddad.
