Rob Schneider is an actor and comedian. After several years performing stand-up comedy, Schneider achieved wider success as a cast member for the NBC sketch comedy series "Saturday Night Live" from 1990 to 1994, which earned him three Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
Following his departure from "SNL," he went on to a career in feature films, including starring roles in the comedy films "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" and its 2005 sequel, "The Animal," "The Hot Chick," "The Benchwarmers," and "Big Stan."
Rob Schneider was born in San Francisco to a Jewish father and a Catholic mother. His maternal grandmother is a Filipina and met his grandfather, a white army private, while he was stationed in the Philippines. Schneider has said this mixed background has influenced his life and beliefs throughout the years.
Schneider is the father of three daughters, one being the country singer Elle King, who publicized their estranged relationship in 2024. Schneider responded by apologizing for his mistakes as a father and declaring his unconditional love for King.
Schneider performed stand-up comedy before joining the cast of "Saturday Night Live" in 1990.
After that series gained him national notoriety, Schneider starred in several comedy films, such as "The Animal" and "The Hot Chick," "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York," and "The Waterboy." He was also a frequent collaborator with his SNL colleague and friend Adam Sandler in films such as "Grown Ups."
Schneider's other roles include the main character in the CBS sitcom Rob and a stint on "The Masked Singer," where he was revealed to be the man behind the mask of the "Hamster."
Schneider, who was a longtime Democrat, switched parties in 2013 and is known more recently for his anti-vaccination views.
What religion is Rob Schneider?
In recent years, Schneider has been publicly outspoken about his political views and his return to the Catholic faith, which his mother belonged to.
On Oct. 31, 2023, he posted on Instagram that he was converting to Catholicism and asked his Instagram followers to practice forgiveness.
He wrote: "At last, it is forgiveness itself that is the gift that we give ourselves because it frees us as Christ intends for all of us to be free. For His gift of ultimate and unlimited forgiveness is indeed the gift for all humanity. May God bless you and your families now and forever."
Schneider told the Our Sunday Visitor newspaper that he believes the Catholic Church is closest to Jesus Christ's actual words.
His 2024 family and faith-friendly "Daddy Daughter Trip," and his involvement in the Christian animated series "Chip Chilla" are his latest productions since his conversion.
"Certainly, if there's an organized evil, there must be an opposing force against it," Scheider said in a 2023 interview. "That's just how nature works. You don't have a front without a back. . . . As much as I have strayed from the Church . . . Jesus Christ never strayed from me. And so I think that's what I wanted to make this movie, something that is as difficult as it is to make a film. I wanted to have something that could bring people together about faith, about hope, and about dreams. And that, to me, is a sneaky way of saying God."
