Tennessee born Anna Mae Bullock saw her life changed when she moved to St. Louis and became enamored with the nightlife there. Soon she became Tina Turner, one of the most energetic and vocally-magnificent artists of the last twenty years. While there were grave bumps in the road, Turner has ultimately had a long and successful career. She was raised as a Baptist, but in '70s turned to Buddhism as a source of strength during the rough parts of her life.
