Kultida Woods was the mother of professional golfer Tiger Woods. She led a life marked by resilience, cultural richness, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Kultida was born to a Thai mother and a father of mixed Thai, Chinese, and Dutch ancestry. Her parents divorced during her childhood, and she grew up with three siblings. Raised in the Buddhist faith, she carried her spiritual beliefs throughout her life.

In 1966, while working as a secretary in a U.S. Army office in Bangkok, Kultida met Earl Woods, a U.S. Army officer stationed in Thailand. Their connection blossomed, and in 1968, Kultida moved to the United States. The couple married in 1969 in Brooklyn, New York. Settling in Cypress, California, they welcomed their only child, Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods, on December 30, 1975.

Kultida played a pivotal role in Tiger's upbringing, instilling in him the values of discipline, respect, and cultural awareness. She introduced him to Buddhism and ensured he remained connected to his Thai heritage, taking him on trips to Thailand to meet extended family and learn about his roots. Throughout Tiger's illustrious golf career, Kultida was a steadfast presence, often seen supporting him at tournaments. Despite the public attention, she maintained a low profile, focusing on her son's well-being and success.

Beyond her role as a mother, Kultida was dedicated to philanthropy. She was actively involved in the Tiger Woods Foundation and supported various charitable initiatives in Thailand, including funding children's homes and schools. Her commitment to giving back reflected her compassionate nature and desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Tiger Woods shared the news of his mother's passing on February 4, 2025, writing, "My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable," Woods said. "She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible."
