In another round of budget cuts, one area at risk of loss in Ohio is the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood. Please take a moment to join the petition to help keep this commission in place and support help for dads in Ohio. The overview and letter text are below as presented from Change.org.

OVERVIEW

An amendment to the Ohio State budget bill has been proposed that would remove funding for the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood and eliminate its existence.  (SB 153 – budget bill for 2011-2013 biennium).  If this amendment passes, the wonderful work of the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood would end.

The Ohio Commission on Fatherhood was established in 1998 through bi-partisan legislation and works to engage and support fathers in the lives of their children across the entire State of Ohio. The Ohio Practitioners’ Network for Fathers and Families partners with the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood to create a unique and critical public-private partnership supporting fathers and families.

The activities of the Commission on Fatherhood also support paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles in the lives of their grandchildren, nieces and nephews, expanding and strengthening the safety net of nurturing and financial support for all of Ohio’s children.

The successful work of the Commission on Fatherhood will result in a substantial return on investment, saving funds now spent on foster care, adoption and support for single parent families.

Sign our petition to help us save the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood.  A letter with your signature will be sent to the Governor of Ohio and your State Legislators expressing your support for Ohio’s fathers, children and families.
