What are we making so much NOISE about?
Sex trafficking. Modern-Day slavery. Child prostitution. Child Slavery.
We are making noise about the atrocities that are taking place here in our own backyard and around the globe. Sex trafficking is the SECOND most lucrative business for organized crime—only behind drugs and weapons dealing. The United Nations defines trafficking as:
“the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs”
FACTS:
- 27 million INNOCENT women and children are enslaved worldwide
- 50% are CHILDREN and 70% are female
- 1.2 million children are trafficked for SEX
- 13.5 million children as young as FIVE are forced into slavery
- 200,000 AMERICAN children at risk
REALITY:
Women and children are forced into unimaginable situations where they are raped, abused, tortured, and enslaved for a PROFIT. Traffickers use brutal tactics to sell men, women, and CHILDREN as commodities. Women are coerced by traffickers with false promises of a job only to find themselves in a lifestyle of prostitution for someone else’s profit and satisfaction. VIOLENCE, rape, withholding of legal documents, and corrupt police enable traffickers to enslave these women.
ACTION:
Many still do not know that modern-day slavery even EXISTS, nor do many of our politicians emphasize the reality of these inhumane acts of exploitation. LET’S MAKE THEM AWARE. Most victims find that the only freedom from slavery is death or suicide. However, there is HOPE. We have LOVE. . .and we will revolt in a LOVE RIOT for these men, women, and children. Let’s FIGHT BACK and give hope to the hopeless and a voice to the VOICELESS.
