Purchase The Big Wish from the Beliefnet Shopping Mall.

Review: The Big Wish is an ambitious children’s story with a big heart.  The protagonist is a young girl who protects a field of dandelions—waiting for them to turn into wish-puffs that she can share with her community.  Eventually, the town comes together to set a World Record—for the number of wishes made at the same time.  And even more importantly, at the end of the story, the townsfolk are working toward making those wishes come true through partnership and service.

There are moments where the narrative arc of the story falters—and I believe the story could have been told in fewer words.  But the combination of fanciful illustrations and the theme of making wishes with dandelions resonated with my daughter.

Recommended for: I think this book would appeal mainly to girls between the ages of 3-5 years old.
