Here’s a video demonstrating a Girandoni Air Rifle that was used by Lewis and Clark.  It’s a fascinating clip although it is over 8 minutes long.  I wonder why the technology never made is to the Civil War?  I suspect Appomattox would have occurred much sooner!  Cpt. Otis
