Aloha everyone,
I have always loved the colorful depictions of Hindu gods and goddesses. Ganesha, the elephant-headed god, is an extremely popular in India. He is the best-known and most beloved representation of divinity in Hinduism. Before most ceremonies, Ganesha is traditionally and generally called upon.
He is the god of obstacles and, of course fear, is one of our greatest obstacles to a happy life!
Ganesha
There are several stories about how he got his elephant head. In one Ganesha was created directly by Shiva’s laughter. When Shiva became concerned that Ganesha was too alluring he gave Ganesha the head of an elephant and a protruding belly.
Ganesha is known as the god of obstacles. He can easily remove any obstacles in your path or place one in your path if he thinks you need to slow down. He is the god of intellect and his consorts are wisdom, prosperity and attainment. Ganesha is affectionately honored at the beginning of any ritual or project and is called upon first in prayer. He will bring you peace of mind, success in undertakings, enlightenment and intelligence. He is also known as the god of education, knowledge and wisdom, literature and the fine arts. Ganesha is also the lord of light and hope. He is called a laughing god so chances are, simply by calling upon him you will feel better.
Invocation:
Since Ganesha is also the patron of writing you can simply write him a letter requesting his assistance. He welcomes all request and joyously helps all those who have an open heart and are willing to accept his aid.
You might say something like:
Most beloved Ganesha, I welcome you into my life. May my heart be filled with your love and your laughter and may I always be guided by your wisdom. Please remove any obstacles on my path and grant me the peace of mind to understand my journey and make choices that benefit myself and all others. I give thanks for your presence and your guidance. May laughter fill my days and joy enfold my heart. Thank you Ganesha for all your help.
Ganesha will assist you in:
Removing obstacles
Creating abundance
Artistic endeavors
Writing projects
Having more harmonious relationships
Feeling happier and having peace of mind
Attaining and maintaining a deep spiritual connection
Next time you are experiencing a lot of fear try calling upon Ganesha and see what happens!
With love and aloha,
Susan
