Fat Tuesday

It is a traditional day of celebration proceeding Ash Wednesday. This year New Orleans has a lot to celebrate. First a miraculous Super Bowl win and now a full schedule of parades for Mardi Gras for the first time since Katrina.

There is no doubt that the period of celebration that we is called Carnival
has roots in pagan end-of-winter and beginning-of-spring rituals
reaching back thousands of years.
