Sin means to err, to miss the mark
When I was 8 or 9 I remember coming home from church one Sunday morning really upset because based on the minister’s sermon I was sure I was going to hell. I was a sinner and God was going to condemn me to hell. My dad asked me what I was so upset about and when I told him he said there was no God. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place either there was no God or I was going to hell.
Over the years I have redefined my concept of God and sin. In the biblical Hebrew the generic word for sin is ‘het.’ Het means to err, to miss the mark. It does not mean to do evil. This Lent I have dedicated the 40 days of Lent to creating more love in my life and hopefully your life as well.
How do you define love?
Your definition of love can make a huge difference in your life. One way you can easily add more love to your life is to make a list of things you find loving or that feed your soul and make a commitment to do at least one a day. Define love in an easy, loving and expansive manner.
Facing your fears
Looking at your fears through the eyes of love makes a big difference. When you decide to see the perfection in all of life and lovingly adjust your course of action so you come closer to the mark of being loving your life becomes magical. How can you adjust your thinking to experience life in a more expansive and loving manner?
Creating bookends for your day
I find having something I do every morning and every night to remind me that my intent is to deepen my connection with my spirit and add love to my life very helpful. I journal every morning, meditate and spend some time in pray. At night I review my day in reverse, letting go of any unfinished business and write a gratitude list. Basically anything that will help you feel loved and connected will do. Years ago I used to go to the beach every night and watch the sunset. Make it simple and make sure you do it.
