Earthquakes, tsunamis and lots of phone calls

tsunami damage.jpgWhat a busy 24 hours it has been, to say the least. The water is still rocking and rolling in the harbors, I understand there are houses floating in the bay on the Kona side and lots of boats have broken free from the docks.

I live on the Big Island of Hawaii and the volcano has also been very active lately. The images are amazing, lava shooting a hundred feet into the air and explosions. The volcano is not very far from my home. So, last night I was jarred awake by an earthquake. Earthquakes here on the Big Island are very sharp and the whole house makes a loud popping noise. Last night we had 20 earthquakes, most of them small but at least 4 large enough to really get your attention.

I fell asleep watching TV and awoke to images of Japan and the massive damage there and my first thought was calling all angels. I had been half awake and half asleep watching the news about the approaching tsunami when the first earthquake really woke me up. I sat up and once again saw images from Japan but this time of the tsunami. I immediately saw the area bathed in light and surrounded with angels.

Sirens and things that go bump in the night

Here in Hawaii we have very LOUD sirens to announce things like tsunamis and hurricanes. Throughout the night they woke me up, reminding me of the approaching waves. Each time I would wake up I would say some more prayers for the people of Japan and all those who would be affected and then doze back off to sleep.

They predicted the waves would reach Kauai at 3:10 AM. I got some phone calls from worried friends on the mainland and got up to watch the news around 3AM. People are amazing, there were actually people walking on the beach, not the best place to be with a tsunami approaching. I assume by tonight they will have pictures of our harbors and some of the damage. In the mean time the angels are hard at work and your prayers would be a wonderful addition, send lots of love and light to all those affected.

There are already some amazing images and videos here. That is all for now from Hawaii, I’d love to take a nap but I have lots of work to do. Thanks for all your e mails asking me if I was okay.

With love and aloha,
Susan
