For years I have wanted to write a book of teaching stories. Today I share one I wrote recently. This is an exciting week for me. I had the privileged to interview Doreen Virtue the other day and will share portions of that interview with you as soon as the transcription is finished.
Here is a different sort of angel wisdom shared with you with a whole lot of aloha.
Mary and fear
It was another beautiful spring day. The air had the sweet smell of the earth as mother earth awakened from her winter’s slumber. Mary walked along the edge of the stream just enjoying the day. She knew that she would soon be called upon to help. The town was quickly becoming overcome by the fear of sickness and death but for now she enjoyed watching the world renew itself.
She sat on a large rock bathed in a patch of sunlight. Mary was filled with a sense of peace and gratitude, love overflowed from the core of her being. She stood with a foot in both worlds, the world of magic and love and the world of worry and fear. She felt her son approaching long before she heard his footsteps or the melodic sound of his voice calling her.
“Mother, people in the town are dying. They are suddenly getting sick and some are dying. There is great sadness and fear. I want to help but I don’t know what to do.”
Mary gathered him into her arms and rested her chin on the top of his head. She loved him so much and knew his path would not always be an easy one. A dove landed in the branch overhead and began cooing as if to say it is time.
She sighed and took a deep breath. “My son, there is much you need to learn about life and death and the power love has over fear. You have a gift, your touch can heal but first you must see beyond the illusion, beyond the fear. You must learn to see only the essence and the truth. You must see what each person really is, a beautiful soul within a physical vessel. It is your job to help people look within and see their soul. There is no reason to be afraid just trust the love that lies within you.”
Mary had hoped this day was further off in the future but that was not to be.
He looked are her with concern and a hint of fear. “But Mother I don’t have a gift I am just my father’s helper.”
Mary pulled him closer to her allowing the rock to enfold them. She knew it was time for him to know the truth about his life’s purpose.
“Do you remember as a small child healing the dove, bringing him back to life?”
“Mother you always told me that was just a dream.”
“Well in a sense it was, life is a dream. When we are born we fall asleep to our true nature. We forget we are a spirit we forget that we are a piece of the creator in human form. You have a gift that very few people have. You still remember the truth and you have maintained that connection to your divinity. That is why you have always felt different.
“Not everyone can talk to angels. Some people don’t even believe in them. You have never walked alone. You have always felt the presence of the creator and knew you were surrounded by love. That is a gift and we have told you to keep it a secret because others may not understand. Fear is a powerful and destructive emotion.”
We sat in silence for a long time feeling the sun and the gentle breezes. Once again the dove began to coo.
“Healing another isn’t your job, standing in a place of love and seeing their perfection is. When you look beyond the illusion of their body and see their spirit you offer them an opportunity to come back into alignment with their wholeness. Sickness is part of the illusion projected by fear. The people in the village believe they are a human being rather than realizing that they are a spiritual being in a physical body.
“When you healed that bird what did you see? What were you thinking do you remember?”
“I remember thinking how beautiful it was and how much I enjoyed watching it fly and take care of its young. I was feeling love and a deep sense of joy about life. I guess I was just enjoying its beauty. I didn’t see a dead bird I saw a creature that loved life and took wonderful care of its babies.”
Mary smiled and asked, “What do you see when you look at the people from the village?”
He thought for a long time before answering. “I see their fear and a lot of anger. I see no love. They frighten me, I remember the time they stoned a man. I see their judgment and I find myself wanting to withdraw.”
Mary was very sad that her son had to grow up so fast. “You need to look beyond their anger. What would happen if you took the time to feel the love of the universe first and then stepped into their presence?”
“I suppose I would be able to see their spirits and see beyond their anger and fear. I would have as much compassion and love for them as I had for that little bird.”
The sun was setting before they finished talking. As they walked back to the village her son had grown immensely in wisdom and he had become a young man. They walked in silence and Mary was filled with pride. Her son would do great things.
With love and aloha,
Susan
