Up at 4:30 to celebrate the May and ‘bring in’ the sun.  I learned (on my blog!) that Sebastopol has Morris dancers as well: Apple Tree Morris.  So I got to sleep later, saved a lot of driving, supported my local community, and attended their performance instead.  

And a wonderful performance it was!  The mix of ‘reverence and mirth’ was perfect.  While the predicted rain has not yet arrived, clouds blocked the rising sun from view.  So at sunrise the dancers held up a hanky, placed a candle behind it, and slowly raised it to view, all to the skirling of the bagpipes.
