Lest we forget the deep hypocrisy of so many who claim to be pro-life, a timely reminder of a woman who died because doctors refused to treat her since doing so might harm a first trimester fetus.
Not all pro-life people fall in this category, but it is fascinating to wonder why so very many do. They prefer the life of a theoretical abstraction – a fetus that may or may not be a human being depending on how less than explicit Biblical passages are interpreted, and assuming the Bible is literally correct despite its many ambiguities and contradictions, over the life of a genuine concrete human being with friends, loves, hopes, and dreams.
