I got a suggestion on Facebook to “Wear a snake for St. Patrick’s Day.”  It was put up by an Irish Pagan, to protest honoring the desecration of our sacred sites.

Why do We , as a Nation , celebrate the banishing and passing of our Ancient Ways and the arrival of Christianity to these shores? I propose the wearing of a snake ( badge,T-shirt, stuffed toy, preferably not a real one as it would probably freeze ) on St Patrick’s Day as a symbolic protest against the desecration of our Ancient Sacred Places and Practices.
 It’s a wonderful idea!
Some folks on the site who love in warmer climes said they would wear a boa, which is about as strong a statement as one can make, but most of us do not have boas.
Tomorrow I will wear a snake “faux tattoo” to honor our forgotten Celtic Pagan ancestors. I hope I see others.
UPDATE
I try not to fall for fictional history.  Alas, this time I did and Hathor caught me up on it. (Thanks, Hathor)
The snakes as Pagans story is apparently not close to true.  See The Wild Hunt for the full skinny.
My snake has been removed.
(But snakes are very cool nonetheless.)
