This afternoon and evening I’ll be at a Solstice party and ritual gathering, and I hope all of you will be similarly blessed.  Whether you are or not, Anne Laurie over at Balloon Juice has a post up showing perhaps the most impressive Midsummer bonfire of all time, in Norway where they have had lots of practice.

For her Christian readers she also added Night on Bald Mountain from Disney’s original Fantasia. While the depiction of our kind is not kind, the wild abandon of their celebration, the power of the animation, and the uninspired animation for the Ave Maria segment that followed was meaningful when I forst saw it as a kid, and remain so today when I can appreciate it more deeply.
