One of the most depressing things about the past six years has been the unending hagiography received by George Bush and his friends from the corporate media and conservative whores fattening at the Republican trough, and the public’s acceptance of it. It seemed as if Americans had forgotten that we are a free country where the people are ultimately sovereign, settling instead for being good Russians adoring their “little father,” as the Czar used to be known in contrast to the Big Guy in the Sky. Only instead of the Russian term, or the similar Caesar, Fuhrer, and Duce, people pretending to be American patriots used the term “Commander in Chief.”
I felt like I had been teleported to another planet inhabited by pod people.

It made me proud to be an American for about the first time since 9-11.

As Digby points out, unlike the American people, Wall Street adores him.

After all, the money he has cost us had to go somewhere, and it went there. That’s MUCH more important than love of country for those folks.
