My post is short – but this link from Glenn Greenwald at Salon explains all that needs explaining. The mainstream corporate media is one of the greatest threats to the survival of American democracy. Every day its behavior demonstrates why centralization in media is a threat to freedom and truth.

It also demonstrates why public corporations should not be allowed to own any media outlets. Ever. At least individuals and family corporations have faces, consciences, identifiable views and, in most cases, a degree of morality exceeding that of a sociopath.

Time is owned by TimeWarner, that also owns the following:

All You

Entertainment Weekly

Essence

Fortune

Fortune Asia

Fortune Europe

FSB: Fortune Small Business

Golf Magazine

In Style

Money

People

People en Español

People Style Watch

Real Simple

Sports Illustrated

Sports Illustrated For Kids

Teen People

This Old House

Time For Kids

Time Asia

Time Atlantic

Time Canada

Time U.S.

In my view, knowledgeable people who love their country should not buy any of these publications at least so long as any reasonable alternative exists.
