How are you showing up in your life? This is a big question to ask ourselves. When we have the willingness and the courage to ask ourselves this powerful question, we can really begin to see the truth of what’s happening within us. We are all given the gift of choice and it’s up to us to see this as truth. It’s so easy to say, “I don’t have a choice.” or “It’s just the way it is” It’s even worse to carry the deep knowing that we do have choice, but we still continue to allow fear to keep us from choosing what feels true for us.

In my experience, there is nothing worse than knowing we must make a choice that feels right and true for us, but rather than choosing the freedom we long for, we resist it, fight it, and sit in the pain of lying to ourselves.

Why would we choose the opposite of what we already know is right for us? Here are my top 5 reasons.

1. We don’t trust ourselves.

2. We attempt to figure out the “why” behind our choices and we strive to have concrete, logical reasons for our choices. Heart centered choices are never logical. They come from a deep knowing and a feeling that screams, “I have to do this simply because I just have to.”

3. We don’t trust that the universe will have our back and will support our truth.

4. We allow the fear of the unknown to over ride the wisdom of our heart.

5. We believe and buy into the stories and the opinions of others.

I have done all of the above and each and every time it has created pain and suffering. The pain and suffering comes from the untapped wisdom within that we all carry within us. We all hold the knowing that we are here first and foremost to follow our own internal compass, our own guidance system, and our own truth. We are here to be true to ourselves and in doing so we can then be the most beneficial to others. When we attempt to move against this truth, we know we are betraying our heart. We know that we are not being who we came here to be. It is up to us and only us to choose what feels right to us. It is our responsibility to clear away the cobwebs in our mind so that we can enter into the pure intentions of our heart. It won’t always feel easy, but the path of truth is not meant to be easy. It’s meant to feel empowering, liberating, soul-filled and genuine.
