There’s times when it leaves you shaking like a leaf…

Then there’s other times when it feels like you’re relaxing on the beach…

But in both cases the same thing is happening to you. The only difference is that it depends on the situation.

And this has to do with you being recognized.

Now here’s something else…

How many times have you been in situations where you wanted other people to take notice of something you did?

And as strange as this may seem…

How many times have you found yourself in a situation where you didn’t want people to take notice of something you did?

But in each of those situations you still wanted to be recognized in some way.

So what does this all mean?

To begin with it starts by asking…

Are you being recognized for who you really are?

1. The shy extrovert

From the time I first started attending elementary school people saw me as being a shy person. As time went on and into my mid teenage years I actually believed the same thing. But there was something else I noticed that was very interesting…

In certain situations I was shy. And in other situations I was extroverted.

When it came to being in social situations around other people I was shy. This included situations in the classroom when all the eyes were on me. It also included outside of school anytime I had to ask somebody for something.

On the flip side however…

When it came to playing sports I was quite outgoing. This even included when the spotlight was on me. And this ultimately led me to start working out, which is something I’ve been doing since the age of 15.

What I came to realize is that whenever I was doing something I loved and was really “good” at, all of a sudden the “shy guy” was extroverted…

And whenever I was doing something I wasn’t sure of or didn’t like, the “shy guy” was truly the “shy guy.”

But in both cases I was being recognized for who I really was.

Now let’s put that spotlight on you.

Where in your life are you confident? In what area of life do you excel? What is it that you do where you’re better than most people? And when I say “better” I mean what skill do you have over other people?

Keep in mind this can be anything ranging from excelling at doing crossword puzzles to playing music to running a business to dancing…and everything else in between. Of course it will be different based on your specific situation.

When you realize what this is for you ask yourself, “Am I shy in this particular area?”

Also ask…

“Am I being recognized by others for it?”

Because no matter how you look at it, you’re both shy and extroverted. This is why there’s no such thing as a “shy” person because in certain situations you’ll be shy and in others you’ll be more out going.

This is what I meant earlier when I said, “there’s times when it leaves you shaking like a leaf…and then there’s other times when it feels like you’re relaxing on the beach.”

And what’s enlightening about this is that you’re being recognized for who you are…even if at first you may not realize it.

2. The humble hero

There’s a tale of two stories that can happen to you as you become more and more recognized for who you are. And this again goes back to being “shy” and extroverted. Except in this case it can go to extremes.

For example…

How many times have you seen someone that comes from a place of “I’ve arrived?” You know, the person who likes to brag that they’re making a lot of money…the person who brags that they have a new girlfriend or boyfriend…the person that is deliberately showing off all the success they’ve achieve.

Versus…

The person who does make millions of dollars…who is in a loving relationship with their spouse…who does have all the success they achieved…and goes about their business in a quiet way.

In both of these cases you have people that are being recognized for who they are and what they’ve accomplished.

In both of these cases you have a person that is “shy” and extroverted.

However the difference is that one is full of pride…or as some may refer to as being “cocky” and having an “ego”…

While the other is humble and poised.

But the biggest difference between the two is that one becomes the fallen hero and the other is the humble hero.

How does this apply to you?

No matter where you are right now in your life, it it wise to get into the habit of looking at both sides of life equally.

For example…

Let’s say you start becoming successful in your business. You’re income goes from where it is now to six figures and continues to climb. Along the way you’ll start to become more recognized.

Instead of bragging about it the wise thing to do is to take a slight step back and ask what the disadvantages are to your new found success. Of course I’m not saying to be negative…

What I am saying is to look at the “other side” of your new found success.

Remember, with success comes the new challenges, the new responsibilities, the new demands from others. These are all good things once you’re prepared on how to manage them as they come up…

Because if you’re out there bragging about it, showing off, then you’re not ready to manage it and at some point you’ll attract what you don’t want…and in many cases it will be taken from you.

Therefore as you’re being more recognized for who you are, make sure to come from that poised and humble state…and be the humble hero.

3. Your stage for life

As I transitioned from my early to late teenage years into my 20’s and beyond, the “shy guy” became more extroverted. But still to this day there are situations that I’m in where the shyness is needed and is a benefit.

This is especially true when I’m learning something new because it helps me listen to those who are helping me.

And then of course the extrovert in me is needed when I’m speaking, such as on a radio show…when I’m coaching people in my Breakthrough to Achieve program…and when other people seek out my expertise in helping them break through their own challenges.

In each of these situations I’m still being recognized for who I am.

Now the important question here is…

“How are you being recognized for who you really are?”

Keep in mind that you’re always on, what I’m calling, your stage for life.

What this means is that in some way you’re always being recognized for who you are.

And once again ask yourself, “who are you” and “what are you here to be, do, and have?”

Because it’s one thing to be recognized for what you think you “should” be doing or “have” to be doing or are “supposed” to be doing. This is not who you really are.

Versus…

When you’re being recognized for what you “love” to be doing, are “inspired” to be doing, and “blessed” to be doing…this is who you really are.

This is when the true brilliance and magnificence of who you are shines through.

This is when you bring to the world the special gifts you have in your own unique way.

Always remember…

You serve the world by shining way more than shrinking.

As you go through every day of your life just know that you are always loved…and that people are recognizing you for the special person you are.
