Remember how after 9/11, there was talk about the death of irony? Looks like the post-Tucson call for political civility has had an even shorter run, with a — can we call it ironic? — Christian twist: In addition to the Sarah Palin “blood libel” blow-up and the usual Westboro Baptist “Church” nonsense that I refuse to cover, the acrimony ranges from new Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley’s comments about non-Christians to the Republican effort to repeal the so-called “job-killing” health care reform legislation, along with stalling over appointing President Obama’s choice of the Rev. Suzan Johnson Cook to an international religious freedom ambassadorship.

Ah well. More material for Obama’s State of the Union address next week?
