Unconditional Love

I recently asked God to do something radical.

“God, please help me to love anyone, anywhere and to never be disgusted.”

Now before you want to correct me and ask me to explain what ‘disgusted means’… let me continue.

So many times when we say we want to love everyone, we always have this invisible line that is drawn. You know…. The line where people who are ‘like that’ couldn’t possibly be included. I mean the people who do all manner of immoral, unethical, illegal things, certainly that would not be included, right? Nope.

This time I included them all.

Everyone who has a bad track record, maybe even a legal track record. People who do things that would normally cause others to turn their heads and cower in disgust. “God, please help me to love anyone, anywhere and to never be disgusted.”

That doesn’t mean I want to be like them.

It doesn’t mean I approve of what they do.

Actually, it means I commit to having no opinion at that moment. I choose to only love. True unconditional heaven sent love.

“God, help me to love the people who do horrific things that most would stand in awe and be disgusted towards.”

I can’t do this on my own. I am completely incapable of doing this on my own. But the greatest of these is love, Jesus said. And I want to be great at this. And if I do? I bet I’ll have an opportunity to tell these people about His great great love for them.

With love,
