Do you have to deny yourself the goodies that you make and enjoy just during this holiday season?

No.  God made all good things for you to enjoy. So enjoy them.

You can do that without a problem as long as you make eating the treats an event — not an activity.  In other words, you can eat and enjoy a Christmas cookie or two.  Just don’t spend the day eating Christmas cookies.

Usually we get involved talking or reading, watching television, or checking Facebook while we eat  and keep stuffing our faces without really tasting or enjoying what we are eating.  We pile up lots of calories and give our bodies the continual message to store up fat.  They do it well — and we wind up carrying extra pounds of blubber into the new year.

Instead, pick your treat carefully. Don’t waste the calories on fruitcake if you don’t like fruitcake. Save them for what you truly enjoy.

Put your treat on a plate, sit down, and eat it with a fork.  Slowly.  Savor every little bite.  When you are through — you are through.  The eating event is over. Wash your plate and fork and move on.

That way you can enjoy holiday goodies without guilt and without consequences.

Eating to live and living for Christ,
