Mom always told you to slow down, take smaller bites, and chew your food.  Now there is a “smart” device to make you do just that.

It started with a woman who has a physical condition that causes growths on her palate.    Since the growths took up space in her mouth and made eating more difficult, she naturally took smaller bites and chewed more carefully.  She was always the last one finished with a meal — and she was naturally thin.

So she developed a device called a sensor monitored alimentary restriction therapy (SMART for short).  It fits on the roof of the mouth and mimics what the growths do — takes up space. A sensor embedded in the device tracks how much the wearer is actually eating.

I don’t know how you go about getting one of these things, but don’t worry. You can achieve the same effect.  Just do what Mom told you.  Take smaller bites and slow down. You will enjoy your food more if you actually take time to chew and to savor the taste.  As you eat more slowly, the hormone leptin which tells your body that you are full will go into action sooner.  As a result, you will be satisfied with less food.

Less food means fewer calories — and that will help with your weight loss and fitness plan.

Eating to live and living for Christ,
