…Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount.  Deut. 1:6

Mountains aren’t bad places to dwell.  Metaphorically speaking, mountains are the high points of our lives.  The trouble only comes when we are stuck on the mountain.

The children of Israel had made it out of the slavery of Egypt and had wandered in the desert for 40 years because of their lack of faith in God to give them the promised land.  The last years were spent on a mountain — Mt. Horeb.  Then the time came.  God gave the word. It was time to move on and take hold of the promise.

There probably was a time when you were in a valley of despair over your weight and health.  That prompted you to do something drastic — like start a healthy eating and exercise program.  That desperation drove you to leave behind your slavery to food and to keep on going.  At last you reached your first goal — and how good that felt!  Never did giving feel so sweet as when I gave away my entire wardrobe of fat clothes.

But the temptation is to stay stuck on that first mountain.  Personally, I feel like I’ve been given my marching orders.  I’m certainly stronger, healthier, and thinner than when I started my journey.  I still wear my smaller clothes.  But I’m not at the end of the journey yet.  Time to leave this mountain and do something drastically different so I can have drastically different results.

How about you?  Are you hovering on a point partway to your goal? Maybe you need to join me in moving forward.   Decide where you want to be and how you plan to get there.  Then take the first step — and keep moving toward the place that is better than beautiful and beyond gorgeous!
