We talked in a post last week about shrinking our clothing size by increasing the size of our worlds.  Becoming involved in a mission is an excellent way to do that. Click here to read about things that are fulfilling — not just filling. But, how do you find your place to serve?

Ask God.  He knows the perfect place for you — so tell Him you are willing to work and ask Him what He wants you to do. He promises to answer those who ask and to open doors for them to enter. (Matthew 7:7)

But remember that God doesn’t intend for you to do everything, and the wrong “good” thing can tie you up and stand in the way of doing the best that He has planned for you.  Not only that, but you might be doing the job He intended for someone else.  Jumping in without asking can rob both of you of a blessing.

And sometimes it is a matter of timing.  I often felt frustrated when my children were small and my time limited. But to everything there is a season (Ecclesiastes 3:1) and the season of life with more freedom to become involved in worthy causes came before I knew it.  It will for you, too. (One more reason to look forward to growing older!)

The Christian life is about getting to know God and serving Him with joy.  When we focus on doing that with our whole hearts, our dependence on physical food will diminish — and  so will our waistlines!

Eating to live and living for Christ,
