Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand.  Psalm 37: 24

Whoops!  Three-year-old Henry slipped on the wet pavement and plopped to the ground. Good thing Grandma was holding his hand.  I pulled up as he went down and the landing was a soft one, doing no real damage.

That’s how it is with the Lord.  His children fall, but we aren’t utterly cast down, because He is holding our hands. He is pulling up as we are going down. One way He does that is by our conscience, prompting us to get up and do better.  Another way is by friends who say, “Never mind. You can do it. Try again.”  We aren’t left broken on the pavement, but are given the tools to recover from a fall.

As you work on getting your life under control and your weight down to a healthy level, you will blow it sometimes.  But you don’t have to stay down. The fact that God is holding your hand will cushion your fall.  And here is a friend, telling you, “You’re not hurt.  So you fell and blew the plan today. Get up and get back to the right path. Eat right  the rest of the day and go take an extra walk.”
