Jealousy’s
a cancer
It’s rotten
to the core,
It’s never
ever satisfied
It always
begs for more.
It poisons
even friendships
Puts
marriages on the spot
As if what
others seem to have
Surpasses
what you’ve got.
The worm
within an apple
The outside
looks just fine
But
inwardly it’s eaten up
Demise
and sure decline.
Remember
Cain and Abel
And each
one’s sacrifice
Why was it
one was pleasing
And one
would not suffice?
You hear
the sound of envy
A fallen
person’s moan
As if
somehow you were deprived
Through no
fault of your own.
That sense
of true entitlement
Of wrongly
missing out,
That leads
to endless lawsuits
And endless
inward doubt.
As if it
was injustice
That placed
you where you are
When mostly
mediocrity
Is why you
missed the bar.
The grass
is seldom greener
In your
neighbor’s yard
You do not
know her challenges
And why she’
gone so far.
You do not
know the factors
That led
him to this day
You do not
know the sacrifice
That lets
him live this way.
You do not
know the striving,
The
laboring until dawn,
You do not
know his trust in God
You only
see his lawn.
You judge
by superficial things
Appearances
at most
You do not
see what lies within
The work of
heavenly host.
Jealousy
has blinded you
You grope
to find your way
And think
that your mere certitude
Gives you
the right to say,
‘The other
man shouldn’t have it
He didn’t
deserve his luck!’
When
failure happens in your life
You always
pass the buck.
Jealousy’s
a tyrant
A wailing
selfish child
Undisciplined
ambition
Unbridled
ego, wild.
It leads to
no good outcome
It ices no
one’s cake
It always
leaves you wanting more
It’s bad,
for goodness sake.
Somewhere
there’s satisfaction
Somewhere
there is enough
Somewhere
there is pure gratitude
And things
are not so tough.
An apostle
once reminded
The key to
being sane–
Godliness
with contentment
Its fruit,
enormous gain.
Jealousy
and envy’s
The enemy
of true love,
Instead of
raising Cain again
Emulate God
above.
