The alert reader will know that I have already, last year posted a good deal of material on the massive archaeological dig at Laodicea (while Colossae still remains undug at all) and we have also posted a good deal of info on Hierapolis as well. Here then we will simply give some updates. Firstly, the dig at Laodicea continues to be very impressive. We were unfortunately experiencing the Hamsin (a dust storm) on the day we were there so the pictures don’t involve bright sunlight. The second picture below shows the main or so called Damascus street and all the massive marble columns that are to be reassembled. The picture above at the very top shows the results of such reassembling, giving a good idea of the monumental nature of what this street would have originally looked like. The second picture above is of the Western theater, a description of which you find immediately below.
