We all have them, whether in our heads, on paper or in cyber space. LISTS of things that gotta get done.  Each day, even before I open my eyes, mine is forming in my ever so active, busy buzzy brain. Lately, sadly, the items and activities have been lining up and clearing their throats for attention (ahem!~) while the moon is about to exchange places with the sun and the stars are huddling beneath their cloud covers. Come on, guys….give me a chance to catch up on some much needed snooze time and I promise I will tend to you. As I am writing this, I am grateful that I can sometimes type with eyes closed, not needing to do too much editing.

My list generally includes writing, promoting, seeing therapy clients, working on wedding ceremonies,  social media networking for work and fun, scheduling speaking events,  speaking at them, meetings, traveling to locations for said activities, for the biz part of my life. Then there are household needs like paying bills which I just did,  laundry; freshly folded and hung up clothes that were glaring at me from a pile on the window seat, dishes, cleaning, lawn mowing, weeding, cooking (gotta eat somewhere in between).

R & R with friends, family and some (believe it or not:), still and ‘silent me time’, as well as gym playouts and hanging out in nature.

I do my best to keep up with the ride and sometimes find myself caught up in a whirlwind. I start one activity and get as much completed as I can, knowing that some are a team effort and can take it just so far. I then need to release it and return to it when it is ready to get passed back to me, like a baton in a relay race.

There was a time when I was disorganized, hassled and harried, feeling quite overwhelmed with the expectations piling up around me. I leapt from one task to another, not finishing them as well as I would have liked. I had little structure around which to fit those details. These days, I can multi-task efficiently, but still prefer one a time focus. Much kinder and gentler on my psyche’.

Some things are just up to me and I have become adept at meeting deadlines; one of the skills developed while being a magazine publisher from 1988-1998.  One of my greatest joys is highlighting completed items with a sigh of satisfaction. Today, I sense I will be sighing a lot as I head out into the rest of my day.

What’s on your list?
