NBC was wise to take over Versus and turn it into the NBC Sports Network.

Just as it made a smart decision to give sportscaster Bob Costas a sports-talk show.

The Long Island native known more for putting down his roots in St. Louis, Costas is a solid sports talkkie who attracted interviews with New York coaches John Tortorella and Rex Ryan on a recent edition.

The MLB Network broadcaster also did solid work on questioning Tortorella’s post-game interviews, or lack thereof, due to the coach’s ornery nature. He also tried to pin down Ryan on his boastful nature.

Costas was also in fine form in an interview with disgraced Penn State assistant Jerry Sandusky on an episode of Rock Center.

What about Bob? He’s doing just fine, as are the network’s he’s working for.
