It would be easy to be jealous of Kenny Albert if he weren’t so darn good and deserve the success he enjoys.

Albert, the son of legendary sports broadcaster Marv Albert, has that unmistakeable “Albert” voice like his dad and uncles Steve (Showtime Boxing) and Al (ex-Denver Nuggets announcer).

He also enjoys the same down to earth approach to his work and slightly sarcastic sense of humor the Alberts all possess.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Marv at a Sacramento Kings game years ago, and he engaged me in a conversation about satellite TV and the Knicks-Pacers rivalry of years ago.

I also talked to Kenny at the Boomer Esiason Long Island charity football game and he asked me about what I was doing there rather than focus on himself.

Kenny is just as comfortable a watch or listen whether he is serving as a broadcaster for the NFL or MLB on FOX or play-by-play guy for the New York Rangers on WEPN.

During Saturday’s Phils-Cubs game, for instance, reporter Ken Rosenthal was talking about Cliff Lee’s love for Philadelphia and added the pitcher recently purchased a condo in the heart of the city.

Without missing a beat, Kenny said “He did everything there but give out Cliff Lee’s address!”

Don’t worry … Rosenthal can take it.

He’s not the first to be “Alberted”, and he won’t be the last.
