Sherwood Schwartz died Tuesday at the age of 94.

Most people who watch TV show credits run at the end of programs remember him as the creator of The Brady Bunch and Gilligan’s Island.

To me, he was practically like family.

Or least his characters were.

In Gilligan, I had a friend more clumsy and awkward around girls than I was.

Gilligan kind of made it cool to be a geek, and that is reason enough to applaud him even as the Skipper smacked him on the head with his hat.

In the Brady’s I had the perfect family to escape to on the TV set, a little different than the group I grew up with.

No offense to my family, but let’s just say we were a little, ahem, eclectic.

The stuff those kids got in trouble for….HA!

I’ll leave it at that.

Goodbye Sherwood Schwartz … and thanks!
